Research Activity: Hard magnetic materials (permanent magnets, magnetic systems and devices); Physical properties (magnetic, transport, optical and others) of nanoobjects and bulk materials;; Finite size effect and the role of Grain Boundaries and Interfaces; Theoretical description and experimental evidences of phase and chemical instability of nanocrystalline alloys; Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline materials and nanocomposites (so called Giant Fullerenes “GF”) - 3d-metals encapsulated in “quasigraphene carbon layers” for different applications; Hydrogen storage materials; Chemical properties of nanomaterials (as a catalysts in hydrogenation, adsorbents and reagents); Application of nanomaterials (“GF”) in chemistry, biology and medicines (for diagnostics and therapy purposes).
Awards: Laureate of State Premium of Russian Federation in Science and Technics (1993) for investigation of amorphous and nanocrystalline solid state by mechanical activation (State Premium is the highest Premium of Russian Federation in the field of sciences and technics); In 1998 (Dresden, International Conference ISMANAM98) he was awarded by Gold Medal for the significant contribution on amorphization of intermetallic phases by mechanical milling.
