A. R. Silva graduated in Psychology from the University of Coimbra in 2009, where she completed the a MsC in Clinical and Health Psychology, and sub-especialization in Clinical Psychogerontology. In 2011 she obtained a PHD Grant (FCT), completing her PhD in Neuropsychology at the University of Coimbra in 2016. During her PhD, A.R.Silva has developed several international collaborations, due to her time spent in Uk and France under the supervision of Professor Christopher Moulin, with who she continues to collaborate so far in papers review and grant applications. Since the completion of her PhD, A.R. Silva has been invited to collaborate in several research projects in the Neurology and Psychiatry departments of Coimbra University Hospitals and she is currently Assistant Researcher and Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, being an Integrated Member of CINEICC R & D Unit - Center For Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions. She is starting a research project focused in validating a multi domain neuropsychological intervention for individuals at risk of dementia, improving research work in dementia risk reduction (DRR) available programs in Portugal.
She was, till summer 2021, an Assistant Researcher at the Center of Neuroscience and Cell Biology in a FCT Project named "The neuroinflammatory reaction to acute systemic inflammation during delirium and its impact in the cognitive trajectory and progression to dementia", working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians, trying to increase awareness and knowledge for behavioural and cognitive problems associated with in-treatment of inflammatory conditions. Meanwhile she has been invited to be invited lecturer in specialized programs and academic courses (ex: MsC in Psychogerontology, MsC in Geriatric Medicine)
Her scientifiic career was initially focused in cognitive interventions for healthy and patological aging, first focusing in memory tecnhiques to support remembering (MsC dissertation) and later focusing in external memory aids as compensatory tecnhiques for dementia patients (PhD dissertation). During and after her PhD the focus has subsequently extended to global neuropsychological interventions to rehabilitate cognitive impairment, both in mental ilness populations and aging populations, and also to foster the development of more accurate differential diagnosis measures of neurological conditions.
