Bio
Ana Molina, PhD in Public Health (University of Valencia), Degree in Sociology and Master’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology of Public Policy. I´m currently head of Cancer and Public Health Research Unit at biomedical research foundation FISABIO. My professional interests focus on quality and equity in cancer prevention. I have participated and led national and international projects (EU Health Programme: EPAAC, CanCon and iPAAC) on social and gender inequalities in cancer prevention as well as on the evaluation of benefits and harms of cancer screening. My training and experience in both social and health sciences has favoured a multidisciplinary approach from a theoretical as well as a methodological point of view. My research results have been published as scientific articles in high-impact indexed journals (57 scientific articles, 22 of them being published in first quartile journals), but also in books (1 book and 7 book chapters), technical health reports (6 scientific reports) and wide-public aimed science journals (3 popular science article). I have participated as a speaker and moderator in numerous international and national conferences. Moreover, I regularly participate in activities with the objective of bringing science closer to society. More importantly, my research results have supported organizational and managerial improvements in regional cancer prevention programmes with the aim of reducing inequalities in cancer and improving quality. I have conducted training and teaching activities for health professionals, research staff and students, including lectures at University of Valencia in both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. I supervise university degree’s final projects on a regular basis and I mentor medical doctors at internship stage. I am currently co-directing 2 doctoral theses. I am a member of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology Screening Group, as well as the Spanish Screening Network and the International Cancer Screening Network and recently the COVID19 and Cancer Global Modelling Consortium. I have been acknowledged by Valencia Regional Ministry of Health for including gender in health research.
