Bio
Ana Gerós graduated in Bioengineering, with specialization in Biomedical Engineering, at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, in 2015.
She developed the Master thesis at National Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB), under supervision of Paulo Aguiar, and collaboration with Jaime Cardoso, from INESC-TEC (Porto) and Dr. Ricardo Horta, from Plastic Surgery, Reconstructive and Maxillofacial center (Hospital São João, Porto). The research work was on medical image processing and computer vision, in order to develop a tool to assist and evaluate reconstructive plastic surgery.
Between February 2015 until August 2016 she worked as Research Assistant on nBTT team, at i3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde and INEB, where she continued to carry her research on medical image processing, computer vision techniques and, more recently, on computational neuroscience topics. Currently, she is a PhD student in Faculdade de Engenharia - Universidade do Porto, under supervision of Paulo Aguiar, integrating the Neuroengineering and Computational Neuroscience (NCN) group. She also collaborates in many other projects at i3S, aiming at the development of computational tools for clinical and laboratory environments.
Furthermore, A.Gerós co-leads a translational project (funded by Portugal2020/Norte2020), bringing new computer vision technologies to the clinical assessment of facial pathologies.
