PhD in Pharmacy-Bromatology, MSc in Food Toxicology and Quality Control and BSc in Biology (Wildlife Resources and Environment), by University of Lisbon. Researcher at Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA, I.P.) and Associate Researcher at CIIMAR (Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research, University of Porto). Scientific research in the field of quality of marine fish/shellfish species (wild and farmed) and seafood, studying several aspects: freshness, sensory properties, texture traits and chemical/biochemical characteristics, quality changes during handling, storage and processing, quality criteria for fishery products (sensory and chemical indexes), upgrading and innovative technologies for fish/shellfish preservation. Expertise in sensory science, sensometrics and instrumental methods of analysis (chemical/biochemical analysis; colour and texture measurements). Current research interests covers: development of sustainable healthy seafood; innovative solutions to upgrade and improve the quality of underutilized marine species; sustainable production of cell-based fish fillets.
