Bio
I am a mechanical engineer specializing in materials science and process engineering focused on improving efficiency of CdTe-based photovoltaics. My contributions to the field include development of process to achieve over 18.5% device efficiency using CdTe-only absorber and over 19% with Se alloy with CdTe. These are the highest efficiencies recorded by any university or national lab for CdTe- based PV. I have recently fabricated polycrystalline CdTe-based devices with efficiency between 18.5-19% that have Voc of over 880 mV. My current projects include investigation and optimization of doping with Gp V elements, primarily arsenic and back surface passivation to overcome the voltage deficit to exceed 1V Voc for CdTe-based px photovoltaics that can be fabricated at manufacturing speeds.
