Bio
Amanda Simmons is an attorney and the founder of Ambika Law, PC, a firm dedicated to special education, children’s rights and institutional child abuse. As a survivor-advocate of child sexual assault within the troubled teen industry, Amanda’s practice focuses on ensuring trauma-informed, victim-centric representation for vulnerable children. Amanda is also active in policy and legislative reform, and has worked closely with numerous survivor groups, legislators, and advocacy groups to effectuate change at both a federal, state, and local level. Ms. Simmons has spoken on numerous podcasts regarding sexual assault and abuses within youth residential treatment programs.
Amanda is active in the Orange County Women Lawyers Association and provides extensive pro bono work through the Los Angeles Incubator Consortium, a network of small firms providing free and low cost legal services. She also speaks publicly and provides peer support regarding mental health in the legal profession and the impact of vicarious trauma to lawyers and judges. As a parent of a special needs child, Amanda is deeply committed to finding more compassionate solutions for raising neurodivergent children. Simmon’s also believes in creating a new generation of women-owned law firms that better balance the demands of family and career.
Prior to attending law school, Amanda was a sales executive in the medical device industry and managed corporate accounts for companies including Cardinal Health and McKesson. Ms. Simmons was also a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of The DEN Meditation, an award-winning line of Los Angeles based meditation studios, featured on Keeping up with the Kardashians. In this role, Ms. Simmon’s expertise in childhood meditation and alternatives to aversive treatment were featured in an interview by The New York Times.
