Alves Sara

Sara Alves (SA; member), PhD in Biomedical Sciences, and a trained gerontologist (master’s in health education), is a researcher at the Centro de Investigação, Diagnóstico, Formação e Acompanhamento das Demências [Center for Research, Diagnosis, Training and Monitoring of Dementias of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Riba D’Ave [private institution of public utility] and at CINTESIS@RISE ICBAS (University of Porto). SA has been involved in designing, implementing, and evaluating several community-based projects related to informal carers of older persons and of people with dementia, both nationally funded– e.g., Caring at Home, Care for the Caregiver, CuiDem-, and EU funded- e.g., Care4Dem, SINCALA, habINdem. Currently, SA is PI of the project of Olaia – Mais vida na demência com natureza e arte (supported by Fundação “la Caixa") and were member of several projects such as “Centro de Avaliação da Capacidade de Condução para Pessoas com Défice Cognitivo” (supported by BPI/Fundação “la Caixa") , “Homedem - Codesign a home wih dementia” (EU Funded), “iSFootprint” (FCT Funded). Also, she collaborates with Centro de Atendimento 50+, ICBAS, mostly in scope of caregiver support. Author of works in the field of informal caregivers of oldest old individuals as well as people with dementia, which are the main focus of her research activities.
