Bio
Dr. Alicia Rihn is an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tennessee. Her research incorporates behavioral economics, eye-tracking technologies, producer and consumer surveys, and econometric models to investigate individual and firm behavior with an emphasis on specialty crops and related topics. Specifically, she is interested in investigating niche marketing, consumer willingness-to-pay, value-added opportunities, and market feasibility of different specialty crops. To date, she has investigated the effects of visual attention to point-of-sale information on purchasing behavior for ornamental plants grown using environmentally friendly production practices. Results have been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economic, International Food and Agribusiness Management Review, and Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics. She has coauthored 38 journal publications, 6 proceedings papers, 48 Extension publications, and 3 book chapters. She has collaborated on 68 academic and industry presentations.
