Dr. Shahid is a Research Scientist at Interdisciplinary Research Center for Hydrogen and Energy Storage (IRC-HES), KFUPM. He earned his M.Sc. (2009) and M.Phil. (2011) degrees in chemistry from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. In 2012, he received distinguished “Marie Currie Research Fellowship” from the European Commission in University of Birmingham, UK. In January 2013, he joined KFUPM as a Ph.D. Scholar in the Department of Chemistry. During his Ph.D. (2013-2017), he utilized his research efforts in the development of Super-Paramagnetic Iron Oxide Nanomaterials (SPIONs) as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) contrast agents for oil reservoir applications. Upon completion of Ph.D., he joined CENT as a postdoctoral research fellow from March 2018 to August 2019. Dr. Shahid’s work concentrates on the development of advanced colloidal nanomaterials, energy storage materials, fluorescent quantum dots, MRI & CT contrast agents, drilling and fracturing fluids for enhanced oil recovery applications. He has been actively involved in various research projects funded by Saudi Aramco, NSTIP, KACST, MoE, DSR, and IRC-HES. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles in reputable international journals and several US patents. He is coordinator of nano-colloids formulations program at IRC-HES. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Saudi Chapter (SAICSC-ACS).
