Laureate of State award in science (USSR), of 1st rank Lomonosov award (MSU), of M.M. Shemyakin Prize (RAS), of Fullbright prize (USA), of Alexander von Humboldt Prize (Germany), Doctor honoris causa (MSU).
Scientific interests lay in biochemistry of nucleic acid-protein complexes. In 1960s he found out the existance of natural DNA and RNA covalent bindings with proteins that forms the novel branch in biochemistry. At the present time he proceed research work in collaboration with department of structure and function of RNA and department of protein chemitry.
