Alexander Alshin

Alexander Alshin received the M.S. degree (Hons.) in physics and the Ph.D. degree in mathematical physics from Moscow State University (MSU), in 1995 and 1998, respectively. From 1998 to 2007, he worked with the Department of Mathematics, MSU, where in that time his research interests lied in a theory of PDEs, functional, and numerical analysis. From 2007 to 2018, he worked with the Digital Media and Communications Research and Development Center, Samsung Electronics, Suwon, South Korea. He is currently with Intel, Moscow, Russia. He has been an active contributor to HEVC, HEVC extensions, and VVC standardization. His research interests include modern video coding algorithms, advanced entropy coding schemes, optical flow, interpolation filter design, ill-posed inverse problems, and texture modeling.
