Bio
Dra. Alejandra B. Camargo is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the School of Agronomy, University National of Cuyo, (UNCUYO) Mendoza, and an Independent Researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Biology (IBAM), UNCUYO-National Council of Scientific and Technological Investigations (CONICET) in Argentina. She obtained her degree in Food Science in 2001 and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2007 at the University of San Luis, Argentina's School of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Pharmacy.
Her earlier research focused on the development of analytical methodologies for the determination of bioactive compounds, then she extended her investigation to studying food-medicinal chemistry employing QSAR models in the last decades. Her research aims to investigate the impact of plant food bioactive compounds on health, with a strong focus on understanding the bioavailability, metabolism, and cardiovascular health benefits of organosulphur compounds. Her expertise includes developing and validating analytical methods for identifying and quantifying phytochemicals in foods and biological samples.
