Alan Gallingani

Alan Gallingani was born in 1984 in the outskirts of Reggio Emilia, near Parma, Italy. In Reggio Emilia he completed Scientific High School Diploma in 2003 and 2009 he obtained the Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MD) at Università degli Studi di Parma. Since then, he built his independent sports career playing volleyball professionally in Italian volley league. After a serious sports injury and an increasing interest in surgery he ended his volleyball career and decided to dedicate all his efforts in pursuing a Specialty in Cardiac Surgery. In 2010 after gaining the licence to practice medicine he entered a cardiac surgery fellowship program at the Alma Mater Studiorum Bologna University and in 2015 he obtained with the highest marks the Cardiac Surgery Consultant Specialty Degree with honors. Thereafter he spent 2 years, from mid-2015 to mid-2017, at the Sassuolo Hospital as a consultant in Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Unit, where he obtains several attendance certificates in qualifying courses (ACLS, ATLS, etc.) From the 2017 he was employed at the Ospedale dell’Angelo Mestre-Venezia, in the adult Cardiac Surgery Department and scrubbed on over than 600 cardiovascular procedures, 150 of which as primary surgeon. In the meantime, he built his family in Venice with two children; the first, a boy, born during the fellowship period and a daugther born during the years in Venice. Nowadays he is a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the Parma University Hospital and moved with his family to live near Parma. He currently participates in the aortic program with particular interest in aortic root surgery and in thoracic aortic surgery; moreover, he is actively involved in the surgical myocardial revascularization program with special attention to the newest and cutting-edge techniques. He actively participates in scientific research publishing papers on major peer-reviewed Journals and attending to the major cardiac conference with abstracts and oral presentations.
