Research interests I am interested in exploring mechanisms whereby hypoglycaemia might lead to progression of atherosclerosis and mortality, helping to explain why intensive glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes has failed to reduce macrovascular disease. Importantly, in addition to further dissection of mechanisms that underpin the relationship between hypoglycaemia and atherosclerosis, I want to conduct research to come up with novel therapeutic options that are urgently needed to mitigate the risk hypoglycaemia poses on the cardiovascular system in those with diabetes.
