Bio
Agnieszka Sołtys is an assistant professor at the Department of European Law in the Institute of Law Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences. She graduated cum laude from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow; studied at the Hague Academy of International Law and at the University of Utrecht; completed post-graduate studies in European law at the University of Oxford; received a Ph.D in legal sciences cum laude at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow (2014).
In 2016 Agnieszka Sołtys was awarded the prize for her doctoral thesis in the 51st Competition of “Państwo i Prawo”, the oldest and most prestigious competition for the best theses in legal sciences in Poland. In 2020 she was awarded the prize in the competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Excellence in Legal Research. Promoting Polish achievements in the area of legal sciences abroad”.
Agnieszka Sołtys is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the president of the audit committee of the Polish Association for European Law (an association operating within the framework of the International Federation for European Law (FIDE)). In 2021 she acted as the national rapporteur appointed for the FIDE XXIX Congress (Topic 1: “National Courts and the Enforcement of EU Law”).
Agnieszka Sołtys' research interests focus on the constitutional aspects of European integration and the instruments of application of EU law in national legal systems.
