Bio
Anna Grazia Mignani was born in Bologna, Italy, in
1957. She received the Graduate degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree in nondestructive testings from the University
of Florence, Firenze, Italy. Since 1983, she has been at CNR-Istituto di Fisica Applicata Nello Carrara, Sesto
Fiorentino, Italy, at present as a Senior Scientist. Her research interests include fiber optic, guided-wave, and
microoptic sensors, and fiber optic sensor networks. Her recent activity deals with spectroscopy for food
applications, especially for multianalysis of nutraceutic indicators. This activity is documented by many journal and
conference publications, invited talks, and some international patents. She managed national and international
research contracts on application-oriented optical sensing. She chaired the 14th International Conference on Optical
Fiber Sensors, some SPIE Conferences on Optical Sensing, and she served as the Guest Editor of the IEEE Sensors
Journal and IOP Measurement Science and Technology. She is a Member of the Board of the Italian
Society of Sensors and Microsystems and an SPIE Fellow.
