Bio
Nuno Afonso holds a degree in Geographical Engineering and a Master in Geographic Information Systems. During his professional experience, he has cooperated with public institutions, such as, Portuguese Geographic Institute and National Laboratory for Civil Engineering, as well as, and other private companies. He had the opportunity to participate on some research projects (funded by FCT), that allow him to acquire the essential skills of research and information evaluation. Moreover, he participated on several national and international conferences and training courses. He has post-graduation studies, and some specific background, in the scope of Digital Image Processing, namely optical satellite images of very high resolution (for urban studies), Synthetic Aperture Radar images, aerial photographs, support and development in projects of organization and information management, with the GIS technology resources, support in the research area of the positional quality and uncertainty of the spatial information, monitoring of the information. The main areas of interest are: management and analysis of spatial information on Geographic Information Systems environment, Remote Sensing, Transport, Accessibilities and Urban spatial structures.
