Bio
Dr. Adrian Sultana MD FRCP (Glasg) FANZCA is a specialist anaesthesiologist at a number of hospitals in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from the University of Malta in 1984, trained in General Medicine in the UK, and graduated FANZCA in 1993 after specialist training in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Sultana has a long-term interest and experience in anaesthesia and perioperative management of bariatric surgical patients and is currently the President-Elect of the International Society for the Perioperative Care of the Obese Patient (http://ispcop.net).
Prior to this current appointment, Dr Sultana has been a member, board member and secretary at ISPCOP.
He has tutored the topic of Obesity and Anaesthesia at the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists pre-examination course in Sydney from 1999 to 2019.
His current research interests include novel airway techniques during anaesthesia for the morbidly obese; target controlled intravenous anaesthesia and opioid free anaesthetic techniques for Bariatric Surgery and beyond.
He also has a busy upper limb regional anaesthetic practice.
In recent years Dr Sultana has presented topics related to obesity and bariatric anaesthesia.
