• 1992. Degree on Mechanical Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, 110/110 summa cum Laude, thesis on Energetics titled: Energetic and Economic Analysis of Natural Gas Turbo-Expansion Plants.
• 1993. Awarded a Ph.D. grant at the Engineering of Thermomechanical Systems School of the University of Naples Federico II.
• 1995. Worked in the Energy Analysis Program, Energy and Environment Division, at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California. Main topic dealt with: hybrid evaporative cooling technique for HVAC systems.
• 1996. Completed the requirements for the Ph.D. graduation by working on a doctorate thesis titled: Three Stage Evaporative Cooling Systems for Italian Climate.
• 1999 - 2004. Assistant professor of Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer at the School of Engineering (Department of Energetics, applied Thermo-fluid-dynamics and Environmental Control - DETEC) of the University of Naples Federico II.
• Since 2000. Reviewer of many international journal and scientific organizations focused on energy application (e.g.: Applied Energy, Energy - The International Journal, etc.).
• 2004 - 2012. Associate professor of Applied Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and HVAC Systems at the School of Engineering (DETEC Dept.) of the University of Naples Federico II.
• 2004. Consultant of the Regional Government of Campania Region on energy management and energy planning policies.
• 2004 - 2013. Member of the committee of the Mechanical Systems Engineering Ph.D. School at the University of Naples Federico II.
• Since 2012. Member of experts committee of the Italian Authority for Electricity and Gas (AEEG) for reviewing and evaluating the research projects funded by Italian Ministry for Industry (RSE Program).
• Since 2012. Full professor of Applied Thermodynamics, heat transfer and HVAC Systems at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II.
• Since 2013. Member of the committee of the Industrial Engineering Ph.D. School at the University of Naples Federico II.
• Since 2014. Member (nomination by Italian Ministry for Education University and Research) of the Management Committee of Action TU1205 (Building Integration of Solar Thermal Systems, BISTS) of the European COST (Cooperation in Science and Technology), Transport and Urban Development (TUD), http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/tud/Actions/TU1205.
• Since 2014. Member of the Analysis Committee at the Direction for audits of the Italian Energy Services Management (GSE spa).
• Since 2015. Member of of the Management Committee of IBPSA‐Italy (Italian regional affiliate of the International Building Performance Simulation Association).
Scientific activity
Since 1994 worked on the following research fields:
• Heating and cooling of buildings - Thermodynamic and economic analysis of innovative air conditioning systems. Numerical simulations of air conditioning and ventilating systems performance.
• Energetics - Energy saving in civil and industrial buildings. Thermodynamic, economic and environmental analysis of power systems. Law and rules on building energy efficiency. Renewable energy for civil and industrial applications. Low environmental impact working fluids for heat pumps.
• Thermo-fluid-dynamics measurements - Innovative flow rate measurement devices. Monitoring of industrial processes. Industrial local ventilation devices.
