Bio
Catarina Liane Araújo, Ph.D., is a collaborative researcher in the Research Centre in Education (CIEd) - University of Minho (UM), Portugal-, and invited Professor of Education at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu.She has a Master's Degree in Special Education - Learning Disabilities (2012) and a degree in Basic Education - 1st Cycle (2009), from the Institute of Education of the University of Minho. from the Institute of Education of the University of Minho. Recently finished a specialization in Pedagogical Use of ICT in the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (2020).
In recent years, she has been part of the project research team as a researcher in the field of special education, the use of technologies and multiliteracies in kindergartens, and primary education in projects such as the Erasmus project Kit @ (2017-2020), Kids Media Lab I&D Project (KMLII) (2018-2021), +Sucesso, Digital Manual II, The voice of the European Teachers, The effects of socio-economic status and multilingualism on children's cognitive development and Pigafetta project.
In 2017, She ended her Ph.D. in the area of Childhood Studies, with a special emphasis on Special Education Needs at the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal (2017). Her Ph.D. developed in the context of inclusive classroom education and the use of technologies to promote the improvement of writing skills. She developed a model of intervention using the SRSD model (POW + Tree) within information and communication technologies (ICT) contexts to improve the quality of writing in students with LD, as well as other students who are in the classroom.
She has focused on the area of writing, learning disabilities, inclusive education, Self-Regulated Strategy Development, the use of ICT in the early years, and media education. Furthermore, she has developed an interest in digital and multimodal literacies in different contexts as well as the development of writing instruction and forms of assessment in writing.
She has also adapted and produced several data collection instruments at the level of writing (for education professionals/children and young people), as well as adapted mnemonics for intervention with self-regulation strategies from English to Portuguese (e.g. Duck, Rainbow), in the area of writing, reading and mathematics.
Simultaneously, she has participated in various national and international projects related to teachers training through evidence-based practice (eg. Laboratory of technologies and learning of programming and robotics for pre and primary school; Media competency training for professionals in day-care centers and comparable institutions in rural areas of Europe; An investigation project about the educational use of the Magalhães Laptop, in the primary education in the North of Portugal).
It has also promoted the access to evidence-based pedagogical practices among education professionals, through continuous training actions (with certification by the Scientific-Pedagogical Council for Continuous Training in the areas of special education, early childhood education, technology and Educational Communication and Educational Technologies (Audiovisual Media).
She wrote three technical reports for projects. Published 28 articles. Has 3 section(s) of books. Organized 11 event(s). Has received 3 awards and/or honors. Participates and/or participated as Researcher in 7 project(s). Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with emphasis on Educational Sciences, Social Sciences with emphasis on Psychology, Humanities with emphasis on Languages and Literatures and Social Sciences. In their professional activities interacted with 20 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers.
She has been an invited speaker at a scientific event and a guest lecturer at undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses at the University of Minho and the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. She also has experience in moderating panels in several national and international scientific events and she also has experience in reviewing three national and international scientific journals, as well as reviewing communications and articles for national and international scientific events.
She is a member of international organisations in the field of education: EARLI, ILA, CEC, IFIP, UDL, CAST. org, srsdonline.org, among others and technique in the scope of Personalized Pedagogical Support at MIM Clinic (Braga).
