个人简介
Amel Mettouchi is a specialist of cell-extracellular matrix interactions and integrin signaling. She has obtained her PhD in 1997 from the University of Paris (Pierre-et-Marie Curie-Paris VI, France). She first studied transcriptional regulation in the context of c-jun and ras cooperation for oncogenic transformation (A. Lwoff Institute, Villejuif, France). She then got interested in extracellular matrix remodeling and moved to F. G. Giancotti Laboratory at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New-York, USA). There she conducted studies on the mechanisms of cell signaling by integrins and small GTPases.
She got hired by the CNRS as a Research Associate (Lacassagne Cancer Center and Nice Faculty of Medicine-INSERM, France) to decipher molecular mechanisms underpinning integrin signaling in endothelial cells during angiogenesis processes. She notably described a mechanism of integrin crosstalk that regulates cell proliferation versus differentiation and the translocation of Rac GTPase to membranes. She also discovered that extracellular matrix composition and integrins influence the balance between Tip and Stalk endothelial cells through the control of Dll4/Notch pathway. She moved to the Mediterranean Center for Molecular Medicine (INSERM, Nice, France) where she studies integrin signaling, small GTPases ubiquitylation and cellular tensional regulation in cell proliferation and oncogenic transformation.
