Bio
Marie Blackmore is a researcher and writer.
Her scientific interests centre around childhood disability. Her PhD was in Psychology. In universities, she has coordinated University courses in Special Education and worked as research consultant and statistician, mainly with researchers in allied health fields. In the not-for-profit disability sector, she has supported clinicians to implement evidence-based practice, obtain grant funding, and carry out research projects. She currently works in Child Disability at Telethon Kids Institute.
Marie also has literary and Biblical interests. She has edited and translated classical French literature in association with her husband, Evan Blackmore. In 2002, one of these publications, Selected Poems of Victor Hugo, received the American Literary Translators’ Association Prize and Modern Language Association Scaglione Prize for Literary Translation.
More recently, Evan and Marie have been commissioned to write on Biblical subjects, including Between Malachi and Jesus: Writings from Maccabean and Roman Times, and commentaries on Leviticus, Lamentations, and the Psalms. Other works of this kind are currently in preparation.
(Scientific and literary publications appear under the name “A. M. Blackmore” or “Amanda Marie Blackmore”. Biblical studies appear under the name “Marie Blackmore”.)
