Aurélie Mahalatchimy is a legal scholar, permanent researcher at CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research, CR), affiliated to UMR 7318 International, Comparative and European laws (DICE- CERIC), within Aix-Marseille University, in Aix-en-Provence, France. Aurélie’s main research interest is International, European and Comparative law of biomedical innovations, especially the law of health products and the uses of human genes (including gene editing), cells and tissues for therapeutic (advanced therapy medicinal products), scientific, commercial and industrial purposes, and the related ethical and societal aspects. She has been involved in various International, European, French and UK research projects collaborating with other law researchers but also with other Social and Human Sciences or biomedical sciences specialists. She is currently the coordinator of the research Project I-BioLex on ‘Fragmentation and defragmentation of the law on biomedical innovations’ funded by the French National Agency for Research (2021-2024), and of a research project on ‘Transhumanism and law’ in collaboration with the Aix-Marseille local education authority and the French national Commission for UNESCO (2019-2021, with G. Nicolas and M. Perron). She is Deputy coordinator and WP4 leader of the H2020 EuroGCT Project ‘European Consortium for Communicating Gene and Cell Therapy Information’ (2021-2025). She is also co-chair of the European Association of Health Law’s Interest Group on Supranational Biolaw with M. Flear.
