个人简介
My research centres on the biophysical characterisation of peptide and protein folds that are involved in self-assembly or have the potential to be involved in self-assembly. The techniques I use include, circular dichroism, FTIR, fluorescence spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, various imaging techniques such as fluorescence microscopy as well as transmission electron microscopy. Additionally, I look at natural protein folds to identify those that could potential be used as the basis for the design of new self-assembling structures. I then design either new sequences or copy a sequence from a natural protein to develop peptides that will self-assemble into a specific structure or material. These materials are suitable for a variety of applications from cell culture through to electronics due to their ability to be chemically modified and their responsiveness to the local environment.
