个人简介
Ana M. B. Nunes is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Geosciences of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Her main research topics are atmospheric dynamics and regional modeling. Dr. Nunes is the coordinator of the Group of Experimental Studies in Mathematical Modeling of the Atmosphere and Surface Processes (GEMMAS) at the UFRJ Department of Meteorology. She works on developing the Satellite-enhanced Regional Downscaling for Applied Studies (SRDAS) to reconstruct extreme weather-to-climate events in tropical and surrounding ocean areas in South America.
Dr. Nunes developed research activities in the USA, initially as a postdoctoral researcher and then as an assistant project scientist linked to research projects at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. She was a researcher for the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program (NARCCAP), a program aimed at studying climate variability and change on regional scales. Within NARCCAP, Dr. Nunes was the principal investigator for the Regional Spectral Model contributions to the dynamical downscaling of global climate models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 3 (CMIP3). From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Nunes was a member of the Technical Committee on Precipitation of the American Geophysical Union Hydrology Section. From February 2011 to February 2014, Dr. Nunes was a member of the Hydroclimatology Panel of the Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) project of the World Climate Research Programme.
