个人简介
Alejandro Linares-Barranco received the B.S. degree in computer engineering, the M.S. degree in industrial computer science, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science (specializing in computer interfaces for neuromorphic systems) from the University of Sevilla, Sevilla, Spain, in 1998, 2002, and 2003, respectively. In 1998, he served as Second Lieutenant in the Spanish Air Force working as Computer Engineer. From 1998 to 2000, he was a Member of the Technical Staff at the Sevilla Microelectronics Institute. From 2000 to 2001, he was a R&D Engineer at ABENGOA Company, Sevilla, working on FPGA prototyping for power line LAN communications. From 2001 to 2006, he was an Assistant Professor at the Architecture and Technology of Computers Department of the University of Sevilla. In 2006, he was promoted to Associate Professor, and since 2009 he become civil servant. From 2013-2017 he served as secretary of his department, and as director from 2017-2021. He was promoted to Full Professor in 2021. In 2014 he was visiting professor with the UZH at the Institute of Neuroinformatics. In 2018 he visited the Neuromorphic Behaving Systems at Bielefeld University. And in 2021 he visited the Intelligent Systems Research Center at Ulster University. He belongs to the Robotics and Computer Technology Laboratory (RTC), the Computer Engineering Research Institute (I3US) and the Smart Computer Systems Research and Engineering Lab (SCORE) at University of Seville. He is cofunder of the SpinOff company COBER. With RTC he has developed a set of AER-tools for debugging and connecting AER system, starting during the EU project CAVIAR. His current research interests include VLSI for FPGA digital design, neuro-inspired chip-to-chip and chip-to-computer interfaces, spike/event based processing for motor control, visual and audio event-based sensor processing for FPGAs, AI for medical applications and robotics, wireless sensor networks and embedded applications based on microcontrollers, bus emulation, and computer architectures.
Prof. Linares-Barranco is member of the Technical Committees on Neural Systems and Applications (NSATC) and Sensory Systems (SS) of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. During 2011-2012 period he was Secretary and Chair during 2013-2014 of the NSATC. He become IEEE member in 2004 and he is Senior member since 2017.
