个人简介
Aliaksandr Shaula graduated in Chemistry (Ionic Transport In Solid Solutions Based on Strontium Ferrite) by Belarus State University (Minsk, Belarus) in 2001 and completed PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Novel Iron-Containing Materials with Fast Oxygen Ionic Transport) by University of Aveiro (Aveiro, Portugal) in 2006.
As under-graduated student, Aliaksandr Shaula conducted scientific studies:
- Sep 1998 - Jun 1999: research and technical work at Laboratory of Physicochemical Modification of Cellulose, Research Institute for Physical Chemical Problems of Belarus State University (RIPCP BSU);
- Sep 1999 - Sep 2000: research and technical work at Laboratory of Thermodynamics of Organic Substances, RIPCP BSU;
- Oct 2000 - Aug 2001: research and technical work at Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solids, RIPCP BSU.
After graduation, Aliaksandr Shaula proceeded his efforts at Department of Materials Engineering and Ceramics (DEMaC), University of Aveiro, as post-graduated student (Sep - Dec 2001), have got PhD grant in competitive call launched by Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT, Portugal) in 2001 and continued research as PhD student at DEMaC (2002-2006) under supervision of Prof. F.M.B. Marques and Dr. V.V. Kharton.
After completing PhD degree, in 2006 Aliaksandr Shaula have got Post-doc grant in competitive call launched by FCT and during 2007-2012 worked as Post-doctoral fellow at Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Coimbra (Portugal), under supervision of Prof. A.A. Cavaleiro.
In 2013, Aliaksandr Shaula have got Auxiliary Researcher position in competitive call launched by FCT and during 01.07.2013 - 30.06.2018 worked at Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA), Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Aveiro.
From 01.09.2018 to 30.04.2019, Aliaksandr Shaula worked as Post-doctoral fellow at TEMA, under supervision of Dr. D.P. Fagg.
From 01.05.2019 to 30.04.2021, Aliaksandr Shaula worked as Doctorate Researcher at TEMA, under supervision of Dr. D.P. Fagg.
His main research areas and skills are related with development and characterization of novel materials for catalysis and electrochemical applications like solid oxide fuel cells, membrane reactors, oxygen sensors and pumps. Specialization domains are: Physical chemistry of solids, Electrochemistry, Oxygen ionic, Electronic and Mixed conductors, Glasses, Electrolytes and Electrodes. Actual research interests are: Crystal structure, Microstructure, Thermal expansion, Magnetron sputtering, Hardness, Thin Films, Oxygen Non-stoichiometry, Catalysis, Oxygen storage and Surface Exchange, Ionic and Electronic Transference Number. Other skills are: solid-state and “chemical” synthesis, ceramic processing/sintering, thin films, TGA/DTA/DSC, dilatometry, micro- and nano-hardness, crystal and micro-structure (XRD, SEM/EDS, TEM, AFM), electrical and electrochemical studies (including total and partial conductivities, oxygen permeation, transference number and polarization measurements) via DC or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
Aliaksandr Shaula participated in 11 R&D projects (7 national and 4 international) and coordinated 1 national R&D project (Phase transformations, microstructural, compositional and texture effects in nano-structured perovskite-related oxide materials for oxygen storage, catalytic and electrode applications, FCT, 2013-2018). During this project he supervised 7 post-graduate, master and post-doctoral fellows.
Aliaksandr Shaula is a co-author of 3 granted patents (International WO/2018/154488 - 2018, US US/2019/0379009 - 2019, and European EP3586385 - 2020), and 4 provisional patents (International, European and 2 Portuguese).
In 2018, spin-off company SEARCHPOTENTIAL was founded by Aliaksandr Shaula, Yang Tao, Sergey Mikhalev and Duncan Fagg, with support of Technology Transfer Unit of University of Aveiro, and established at Creative Science Park (Business Incubator of University of Aveiro). Its principal activity is to perform scientific research in electrical energy production and storage, and to develop products and informatic applications in this area. At present, the efforts are focused on commercialization of Power Phoenix battery (that accumulates/releases electricity via oxygen exchange with ambient air). The Power Phoenix battery concept was presented at Porto Business School within the COHiTEC2017 Program (commercialization assessment initiative held by COTEC - Business Association for Innovation), has won 3rd prize at BfK (Born from Knowledge) IDEAS 2017 Start-up Competition held by Portuguese Innovation Agency (ANI) and 1st prize at "Songshan Lake Cup 2017" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (European Division Finals).
In 2020, Aliaksandr Shaula have got Auxiliary Researcher position in competitive call launched by FCT and since 01/05/2021 he carries out his research at TEMA and participates in 1 national R&D project.
