个人简介
Organic Synthesis, Catalysis, Supramolecular Chemistry, Molecular Recognition, , Actinide Coordination Chemistry
Anne “Annie” Gorden grew up in Texas. She studied at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, completing a double major in Chemistry and Literature. She then returned to Texas to pursue her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin with Prof. Jonathan Sessler. A large portion of her collaborative Ph.D. research project required that she spent about have of the time doing her graduate research work working with actinides at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory. She continued her research with postdoctoral appointment at The University of California at Berkeley with Prof. Kenneth Raymond. She was later appointed the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Seaborg Center Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She began her academic career in Organic Chemistry at Auburn University in Alabama in 2005. She has now moved to Texas Tech University in 2020.
Prof. Gorden’s research focuses on supramolecular chemistry and the design of ligands for rapid identification of actinides like uranium and thorium in the environment. Her research group has also looked at transition metal complexes for C-H activation. Dr. Gorden's research efforts have been funded by the the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and the National Science Foundation. She is currently an associate member of the American Chemical Society national Women Chemists Committee.
