Marco Alexandre Ribeiro is a Centro de História da Universidade de Lisboa member. He graduated in History (2017), Master in Medieval Studies (2019), and post-graduated in Ethics and Political Philosophy (2020) from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. He was a member of the collective project of national scope MedCrafts (ended in September 2022) and is currently developing his Ph.D. in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon, focusing on the process of construction of a “political conscience” in the Portuguese artisans of the late Medieval Ages and Early Modern Ages. His main areas of interest are the culture and society of the late medieval period. He has published some book chapters and journal articles about the regulation of the crafts in Portugal in the late Middle Ages, as well as some studies about the relationship between the Portuguese craftsmen and the local elites, analyzing the political role of the craftsmen in Portugal in this specific chronology.
