个人简介
Alan Barrett has led small teams working on proteolytic enzymes (best called peptidases) and their inhibitors. The work, funded by medical research charities, the Medical Research Council and the Wellcome Trust, was done at the Strangeways Research Laboratory, the Babraham Institute and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, all near Cambridge, UK. The main focus of the laboratory work was the discovery and characterization of peptidases and their inhibitors, generally in human systems. A long-term interest has been the comprehensive collation of knowledge of peptidases and their inhibitors, with the use of bioinformatic methods. This led to involvement in the editing of a number of books (including volumes of Methods in Enzymology and the Handbook of Proteolytic Enzymes) and the MEROPS database
