个人简介
Gareth Roberts is a statistician whose interests include applied probability, Bayesian statistics and computational statistics. His work has made significant contributions to the theory and application of the Markov chain Monte Carlo technique, which is a core part of modern Bayesian statistical modelling.
His research has enabled the development of statistical models for the study of epidemics in animal populations, such bird flu and foot and mouth disease, and been applied to problems in finance and spatial statistics. He has also made fundamental contributions to infinite dimensional simulation problems and inference in stochastic processes.
Gareth has received many accolades in recognition of his work, including the Rollo Davidson Prize of the University of Cambridge in 1999 and the Guy Medal of the Royal Statistical Society, in both Bronze and Silver in 1997 and 2008, respectively. He has also served as the Editor of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series B (Statistical Methodology).
