Hao Wu received the B.E degree from the Shanghai Jiaotong University, China, in 1996, and the M.S and Ph.D degree from Zhejiang University, China, in 1999 and 2003 respectively. All degrees are in electrical engineering. He visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2003 to 2004 and Wisconsin-Madison University from 2009 to 2010.
He is now an associate Professor in the school of electrical engineering at Zhejiang University, China. His research interests are in power system operation and optimization, voltage stability and control, load characteristic analysis and modeling, power system cascading failure. He has published more than 50 journal papers in English or in Chinese.
His current interest mainly lies in power system parametric problem, which is a general category of problems of assessing the impact of external factors on power system performances. Both deterministic and stochastic factors are universally treated as power system parameters, and the parametric problem can be described mathematically as either a set of nonlinear equations or differential-algebraic equations, or nonlinear programming model. Polynomial approximation techniques are used to tackle the parametric problem, so that explicit polynomial expressions can be obtained that describe the relationships between system performances and parameters.
