个人简介
Dr. Fraser is the Founder of the Photonics Center at Boston University,
where he also served as the Director, until his retirement in 2006. Prior to
joining Boston University, Dr. Fraser served in the Bush Administration
as the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition.
Preceding his government service, Dr. Fraser spent almost 30 years at
the Draper Laboratory in various positions, culminating in his role as Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer. As an engineer, he played a big role in the development of the Apollo guidance
system.
Dr. Fraser serves on the Board of the Center for Technology Commercialization. He is a Member of the
National Academy of Engineering (NAE), an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics (AIAA), and a Fellow of the American Astronautical Society (AAS). In addition, Dr.
Fraser is the Founder of AIAA’s Journal of Guidance, Control and Dynamics; where he also served as
its Editor-in-Chief for 13 years.
Dr. Fraser previously served on the boards of DRS Technologies (a NYSE listed defense company) and
Photon Dynamics (a NASDAQ company). He also has served on the faculty of MIT. Dr. Fraser is a
recipient of the NASA Public Service Medal, as well as a recipient of the Defense Distinguished Service
Medal (the highest award awarded to civilians in the department).
Dr. Fraser received his Bachelors of Sciences degree (1962) from MIT, his Masters of Sciences degree
(1963) from MIT and Sc.D. in Instrumentation (1967) from MIT.
