主要从事测量平差与数据处理,包括污染误差模型下的测量数据处理、附不等约束的平差理论、InSAR高精度地表形变与地质灾害监测、极化InSAR穿透测绘等方面的研究。主持或主持完成国家自然科学基金委重大仪器专项“无人机载L波段极化干涉SAR林下地形测绘系统”,国家自然科学基金委重点项目“顾及生物物理参数的极化干涉SAR几何和物理观测量联合反演植被高度及DTM”,及国家重点研发计划课题“空天多源遥感数据融合的特大滑坡三维动态跟踪技术与系统研发”等项目。发表SCI论文200余篇,作为项目负责人获得国家科技进步二等奖、教育部自然科学一等奖、湖南省科技进步一等奖、中国测绘学会一等奖各1项。2008年获夏坚白测绘事业创业与科技创新奖。
