Late-life depression, allostatic load, and risk of dementia: The AGES-Reykjavik study

•Four subgroups were found based on cardiovascular or multisystem dysregulation.•Increased risk for dementia was found for the multisystem dysregulation group.•Allostatic load did not explain dementia risk in those with depressive symptoms.•There was additive interaction between the multisystem dysregulation group and depressive symptoms.
