Cloud Infrastructure for Intelligent Decision Support in Titanium Carbide Laser Cladding

The results of laser cladding by powder injection of titanium carbide on the surface of steel plate are presented. The dependence of tribological properties of the material created on a metal sample on the concentration of titanium carbide in a gas-powder mixture fed into a melt pool has been analyzed. It is established that the mechanical wear of ferrous-based alloy significantly increases in case of deposition of hard-alloy powder on its surface by laser cladding. In this case a linear dependence of the coating hardness increase on the deposited powder material flow rate is observed. Taking into account the complexity of laser technological equipment parameter setting and the variety of factors affecting the laser metal processing quality, the software concept for intelligent support of decision-making by the equipment operator has been proposed. The concept is based on an ontological two-level approach to the creation of databases and knowledge base of laser-based directed energy deposition additive manufacturing processes. A brief description of the information resources and tools for the decision support in laser-based additive manufacturing is given.
